Golden Springs Holiday ParkWorld-class trout fishing is available year-round in nearby streams, rivers and lakes. We are only 5 minutes from the mighty Waikato River, and some of the best-kept secret angling locations it provides. Combined with the truly wild bred trout found in Lake Taupo, our accommodation is within easy reach of the well-stocked Rotorua lakes such as Tarawera, Rotomahana, Rerewhakaaitu, and of course, Lake Rotorua itself. Do the names “Lake Aniwhenua” and “Rangitaiki River” mean anything to you? Well, they have been the locations for the World Trout Fishing Championships, and they are only 60km on good roads from our Park. We can organise the finest fishing in the region with a number of well-known guides, providing transport, boats, equipment and some of the best fishing in the world.

Golden Springs Holiday ParkAmong the wildlife here is an occasional pair of moreporks, the only owl endemic to New Zealand. They are thought to have bred here in past years. The fantails are ever so friendly, and settle on nearby branches as one walks through the fern glade. The tui (the bird, not the beer!) can be heard calling at times, and frequents the tall and abundant trees. We have five friendly goats that we have reared from day-olds, and they now help keep the grass short where the mower doesn't go. In the cooler backwater parts of the thermal stream, one can see schools of tiny little fish. The golden koi, which apparently once inhabited the stream and after which Golden Springs is named, are no longer here, but long-time residents remember them well.

The nearest golf course is only 5 minutes away, off Broadlands Road (11km). In the Taupo and Rotorua area, there are a good number of world-class golf courses to play on.

Water skiing, kayaking/canoeing can be undertaken on the nearby Waikato River (2km) which leads to nearby Lake Ohakuri. Lakes Rotomahana (32km) and Rotokakahi (35km) are also well suited to watersports.

We are ideally suited for family getaways, and we have short local walks and plenty of room to explore our Park (2ha), as well as a playground for children. There is a flying fox and a trampoline. Guests in our accommodation units enjoy both local and Sky TV, and there is a convenient small TV room for campers (no SKY). We also have an internet 'hot spot' for those guests wanting to keep in touch with overseas families.

We are well situated between the two principal tourism centres of Rotorua and Taupo, and within easy reach of a number of well-known highlights: 3-min drive from Riverjet Thermal Safaris (only 2.5km away); Oraki Karako Cave and Thermal Park, also known as 'Hidden Valley' (only 24km); Wai—O—Tapu Thermal Wonderland where Lady Knox Geyser erupts daily at 10:15am (only 20 km); Ohaaki Thermal Power Station (8 km); Waikiti Valley Paradise Valley Raceway and the Taupo Motor Race track are only 30km from our Park.

There are several FREE thermal destinations near to our Park. Butchers Pool, named after an early settler, is located just 4km from our Park. It was gifted to the people of Reporoa and is well used by visitors. Kerosene Creek, a well-known thermal pool used by tourists and locals, is only 17km away. The Boiling Mud Pools just off the road to Wai-O-Tapu are also just 17km from our Park, and here one can see thermally heated mud boiling and plopping in a hot mud lake. The Rainbow Mountain Scenic Reserve is only 19km away, and here one can enjoy great walks in very picturesque surroundings. There are many other free destinations for visitors, all within easy reach our Holiday Park.
